Happiness Is Everyone’s Business!
Happiness Is Everyone’s Business!
What decades of studies tell us about happiness and happy people!
If you want to know how to “add smiles to your life and add life to your smiles,” this is a course for you!
Here’s an important truth that most managers and employers have yet to understand. Happy employees make effective employees, literally. The scary version of this?: Unhappy employees are ineffective employees. We can call the former the “happiness advantage” and the latter “unhappiness disadvantage.”
The bad news is this. Surveys have repeatedly found a large majority of workers across the world to be unhappy with their work or disgruntled with their company, and hence tend to be largely unmotivated to do well at their work or do more for their company.
But the good news is this. First, one can truly learn to be happy or happier in life and at work. There are simple do’s and don’ts that studies suggest can boost one’s happiness. Second, there are also things that one can do to influence and inspire others to be happy or happier. In short, happiness is not just a feeling that comes naturally or accidentally. Rather, it can be proactively achieved and actively cultivated. This course tells us why and how.
Course overview
Study after study has found happier people to be more motivated and more productive than their less-happy counterparts. For example, happier employees are more efficient and less likely to cheat than unhappy ones, and happier managers tend to make better decisions and are more insightful and creative than unhappy managers. Outside of work, happier students do better than their peers in school, and happier couples generally make more money and churn out better kids than the average population.
The opposite is just as true: unhappy (e.g., those who are stressed, frustrated, or disappointed) employees, managers, students, and couples tend to be less effective and less productive than others.
What makes certain people more “happy” and others more “uptight and stressed”? In this course, we will explore these issues in great detail. We will look what we can do in order to embolden our attitude and enhance our mood, thereby increasing our chances of “success” in life and at work.
