Colors of Behavior
Colors of Behavior
What every individual and leader must know about what drives human behavior
Why are some organizations so slow and ineffective, while others so resourceful and effective? And what makes some bosses and employees so unmotivated and frustrated, while others remain so motivated and excited?
The answer has very little to do with salary, the type of work, or the makeup of the people. Instead, it has a lot to do with the social climate of the organization—how it treats the people and how the people treat one another. This, in turn, is largely dependent on how well people understand what drives people’s behavior, and hence how well they know how to get along with one another. Decades of studies support these conclusions. In this course we will explore these and other related issues.
Course overview
What is personality, really? And what is character? What does it mean to say a person has such and such attitude? Which one drives a person’s behavior more? Do a person’s personality, character, or attitude change over time?
Why do some managers see only details while others only the big picture? Why are some leaders so honest and others so dishonest? Similarly, what makes one customer so polite and another so rude, one engineer so task-oriented and another so people-centered, one CEO so open-minded and another so close-minded, and so on? Is it because of their character or their personality? Or their attitude? Their habit? The environment? Or? In this course you learn to understand and identify the different roots of people’s varied and various behavior, the different causes of behavior, the different colors of behavior.
Knowing what drives people’s (and our) behavior has many benefits. When you understand what drives people’s behavior, you’ll know how to work with them in better terms, how to motivate them, how to influence them, and, as a leader, how to lead and inspire them to achieve higher standards and better results.
